Currently studying and working in Bristol, Alexandra Grace van Zyl strives to create innovative pieces of work that can provide insight into societal relationships through visual coherence.
After a life threatening illness in 2019 that landed her in critical care, both physical and mental recovery were important. Through the use of photography and filmmaking it became easier to find beauty in the small things whilst building strength. After this event it became all the more important to seek out exciting opportunities and make the most out of life.
Currently studying BA(Hons) Media Production and Journalism at University of the West of England, Bristol. This degree course has developed and honed skills across: photography, videography, audio production, analytical research, journalism, digital marketing, and communication.
A levels (A*-B equivalent) in photography, performing arts, combined physics, chemistry and biology were achieved at the Thomas Hardye School, Dorchester. GCSES (A*-B) were similarly obtained at the Thomas Hardye School, Dorchester.
Fun fact, before starting my GCSEs I achieved a grade 5 in Oboe, and an entry-level GCSE in Latin.
Recipient of the UWE Employability Bursary for an outstanding commitment to developing the student community.
Runner-up in the 2024 campaign for Vice President of Societies & Communications at the UWE student Union.
